When a Japan travel eSIM's validity period actually starts, whether an app is required, and each provider's refund conditions, from official sources.

Plans with a daily allowance don't cut you off — they throttle. In our data, that ranges from 128kbps to 2000kbps after the daily limit, resetting the next day. See the specific plan for its exact throttle speed.
It depends entirely on the provider's own terms — we link to each one's official refund conditions on its brand page rather than assuming they're all the same. As a general rule across eSIM providers, refunds tend to be harder to get once you've already used a meaningful share of the data or once significant time has passed since purchase.
